I found a nice yellow lamp fitting with a braided cord reduced to £2.50 so I knew I had to do something with it. Clearly I needed a pulley lamp in my life, but the usual industrial style wouldn’t look right with this lamp fitting so I designed a more modern version. The pulleys were 3D printed then primed and painted, while the bracket was cut from MDF and painted to look like aluminium.

At the last minute I added an old Ikea lamp shade I had lying around.
